They looted doors and windows from the houses during the attack, which took place late Thursday night.
20 Houses in Government Shelter: The attackers also threatened the residents, forcing them to leave their homes. Upon receiving the news, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tariqul Alam, a team from the army, and a police team led by the Rupganj police station officer-in-charge visited the site.
Assistant Commissioner Tariqul Islam stated that late Thursday night, a group of unidentified miscreants attacked the government shelter project in Darikandi. They vandalized 20 houses, looted doors, windows, and other belongings from inside, and intimidated the families residing there, driving them away.
He added that upon learning about the incident on Friday afternoon, a team from the upazila administration, an army unit, and a police team from Rupganj police station visited the scene. The police are investigating to identify those responsible, and legal action will be taken based on the findings.
