A British soldier

A British soldier had been spying for Iran. A former British soldier was convicted of spying for Iran after making a risky escape from a London prison. He is charged with giving the Iranian intelligence service classified material.

A British soldier…. A jury at Woolwich Crown Court found 23-year-old Daniel Khalife guilty of breaking anti-terrorism and Official Secrets Act rules. Daniel planned to become a spy, according to the prosecution, after providing the Iranian intelligence service with a significant amount of restricted and private material, including the identities of special forces officers. It was called a “despicable act.”

Daniel stated in his testimony that he had communicated with Iranian government officials and that his ultimate goal was to serve as a “double agent” for the British government.

He stated to the jury in court, “I wanted to use my background to advance our national security.”

“Daniel Khalife’s ambition to become ‘James Bond’ was naive and stupid,” claimed Gul Nawaz Hussein, the accused’s defense attorney. ‘Scooby-Doo’ was more his style than ‘007’.
