Actress Shomi Kaiser has been arrested: Police have detained Shomi Kaiser, a popular actress and former president of the e-commerce organization E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB).
Actress Shomi Kaiser has been arrested. The Uttara West police station apprehended her on Tuesday night in the capital’s Uttara district. The matter has been confirmed by Rawnak Jahan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Uttara Division.
On October 14, a defamation action of 10 crore taka was filed against Shomi Kaiser at Magura Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court for making disparaging remarks about BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman.
Shomi, a popular 1990s actress, is the daughter of martyr scholar Shahidullah Kaiser and novelist and former Member of Parliament Panna Kaiser. During the quota reform campaign, Shomi supported the Awami League administration over the student public.
