All Jagannath University coordinators have been declared undesirable. The general students of Jagannath University (JnU) have labeled all coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement unacceptable.
All Jagannath University coordinators. This announcement was made public on Tuesday evening, following a discussion between lecturers and students in the university’s conference room.
It has been claimed that, after resigning from their positions, the coordinators who headed the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement continue to identify themselves as coordinators in various situations. Students have been protesting for the past week, demanding a five-point agenda that includes handing over the second campus to the army. To address the students’ continuous movement, a discussion meeting was conducted in the Vice Chancellor’s conference room this evening, following a meeting organized by the Ministry of Education.
During the meeting, Nur Nabi, the former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, re-declared himself as coordinator, which sparked outrage among the general students in the conference room. Rais Uddin, General Secretary of the university’s White Panel, and Nasir Ahmed, an English department faculty member, were eventually able to calm the situation down. Following the discussion, the general students indicated that there is no need for a coordinator in the ongoing movement at the institution; everyone will simply represent themselves as general students.
Raihan Hasan Rabbi, a History department student, stated, “We demanded that the administration provide a written statement regarding the decision made at the ministry.” However, some people rejected our request and brought up previous occurrences at the university that are unrelated to the current movement. They have already misdirected real student movements in a variety of areas by posing themselves as coordinators. There is clearly no coordinator in our general student movement.”
Additionally, during the student-teacher meeting in the Vice-Chancellor’s conference room at Jagannath University, Nur Nabi, former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement branch, openly apologized for the “undesirable” occurrence by holding his ears in front of everyone.
