Body found in mosque with a scarf wrapped around the neck, mystery surrounds death. A man named Md. Asadul Rarhi (50) was found dead with a scarf wrapped around his neck inside a mosque in Bauphal. The body was recovered on Friday morning from the Rarhi Bari Mosque in Keshabpur village of the upazila. Asadul was the son of Majid Rarhi from the same village.

Body found in mosque: According to local sources and family members, on Thursday morning, Asadul told his brother Babul Rarhi that he was going to Dhaka and borrowed 1,000 taka from him before leaving home. However, he did not return throughout the day. Around 10:30 PM, he entered the mosque near his house. When the mosque’s imam inquired, Asadul replied that he would leave after performing his prayers. A short while later, the imam left for home.

Early in the morning, Asadul’s cousin, Dulal Rarhi, arrived at the mosque to give the Fajr Azan and found Asadul sitting lifeless with a scarf wrapped around his neck. Shocked, he screamed, alerting the locals, who then informed the police. Law enforcement arrived shortly after and recovered the body.

Asadul’s brother, Babul Rarhi, stated, “My brother lived alone as his wife and children reside in Dhaka. He had been staying at home for about a year. He said he was going to Dhaka yesterday, but in the morning, his body was found in the mosque. I don’t know if it was suicide or something else.”

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bauphal Police Station, Md. Kamal Hossain, confirmed that the police recovered the body and sent it to Patuakhali Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, and an investigation is ongoing.
