China could be an alternative

China could be an alternative to India for medical treatment: Foreign Affairs Advisor. China could be an alternative for Bangladeshis due to the suspension of Indian visas, according to Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain. He shared this during a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (January 26) after his visit to China.

China could be an alternative: The Foreign Affairs Advisor stated that Kunming in China could serve as an alternative to India for medical treatment. The cost of treatment and travel there is comparatively lower. In this regard, China has been requested to reduce visa fees. Since India has suspended visas, Kunming could be a viable option.

Touhid Hossain further mentioned that China has agreed to build a large hospital in Bangladesh. Discussions are ongoing regarding the location for the hospital. “We have suggested a suitable location in Purbachal, and we are ready to provide the land,” he said.

He also noted that discussions with China showed a positive attitude towards reducing loan interest rates and extending repayment periods. China assured that they would look into the matter. Additionally, an agreement was signed regarding the Brahmaputra River, but no discussions were held on the Teesta River.
