Don’t even think about the minus 2 formula: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated, “Do not attempt or conspire to do anything by excluding the BNP.” The people of Bangladesh will never accept it. Nobody should even think about it. Once, an attempt was made to depoliticize using the’minus two’ formula. No one should consider going down that route again.”
He made these remarks on Sunday during a discussion meeting at the Engineers Institute’s auditorium in Ramna. The Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP organized the meeting to commemorate Sadeque Hossain Khoka, the former mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation, who died five years ago.
Mirza Fakhrul stated, “We have been rescued from a dreadful monster. We no longer have to bear this load. Even if the load is lifted, there is still no respite. We’re strangely stuck. A people’s government has yet to be founded.
The BNP Secretary General criticized an advisor’s statement that ‘politicians are ready to get to power,’ saying, “The statement from that advisor is very regrettable.” We had not expected a person of that stature to make such a comment. We politicians are not eager to gain power. We worked to liberate Bangladesh from Hasina. We gave our lives, made sacrifices, and are now working rapidly to establish democracy.”
He urged the interim government to immediately prepare an atmosphere for elections in the country, saying, “The longer you delay holding elections, the more likely it is that the Hasina regime will return.” That is why I keep repeating, “Create an environment for elections as soon as possible.” Remove all existing impediments.”
