India has taken the effort to erect barbed wire fencing in border areas that are now unfenced. India has increased security along the Bangladeshi border in eight districts of West Bengal’s North Bengal area amid the continued tensions between Bangladesh and India.
India has taken the effort: At a news conference in Siliguri on Monday, December 2, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) North Bengal Frontier Inspector General Surya Kanta Sharma provided this information. Initiatives have been made to erect barbed wire fencing in unfenced sections of the India-Bangladesh border as part of measures to improve security along the Bangladeshi border in eight districts of North Bengal, said IG Surya Kanta Sharma.
The 1,937-kilometer India-Bangladesh boundary in these eight North Bengal districts was noted during the press briefing. This border is now more securely guarded. Drones, CCTV cameras, thermal cameras, and night vision cameras are all being used for surveillance. Additionally, checkpoints on the Indian side of the border are getting biometric locks installed.
According to the news conference, the West Bengal government has backed the purchase of land for the construction of border walls.
