The Awami League calls for a rally at Zero Point on November 10 to restore democracy. The Awami League, alleging misrule, has called for a rally at Zero Point in the capital on November 10 to restore democracy in Bangladesh. On Saturday, November 9, the party’s official Facebook page published a post making this call.

The Awami League. The message states, “Come on November 10 to Noor Hossain Square, Zero Point, Gulistan, Dhaka. Our demonstration is against deprivation of people’s rights, the development of fundamentalist groups, and plots that disrupt ordinary people’s lives. Join Awami League leaders and activists in their protest against misrule.

November 10 is “Shaheed Noor Hossain Day.” On this day in 1987, Noor Hossain was killed during a democratic movement procession through Dhaka’s streets against the then-autocratic state. Various political parties mark the day with a variety of programs and activities.

After losing power in a student and public uprising on August 5, the Awami League has declared field actions for the first time.
