The expelled trainee Sub-Inspectors have staged another sit-in in front of the Secretariat, demanding restoration in their positions. The expelled trainee Sub-Inspectors (SIs) from the 40th batch of police have staged another sit-in in front of the Secretariat, demanding restoration in their positions. They are standing, holding numerous placards in their hands. They have declared that they will continue to demonstrate till 5 p.m. if their demands are not met. They gathered on Abdul Gani Road, near the Secretariat’s gates 1 and 2, starting about 10 a.m. on Monday.

The expelled trainee Sub-Inspectors: The terminated SIs stated, “To protest the wrongful dismissal from training and to demand reinstatement in our employment, we, a group of 321 Sub-Inspectors, organized a peaceful sit-in in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 5 and 6. The Home Secretary met with our team and promised us that necessary actions would be taken in response to our demands. However, because we have not seen any tangible action thus far, we are resuming this sit-in campaign. This program will continue until a clear decision is reached.”

Minhaj, a participant in the sit-in program, stated, “We were fired over very minor allegations. It is uncommon for the Police Academy Sardah to dismiss so many persons at once. This is unjust. “Our jobs should be reinstated.” He indicated that the sit-in program would continue until 5 p.m. today.

A different participant stated: “I joined the training on November 4, 2023. After completing one year of training, I was dismissed on November 4, 2024. They claimed I was inattentive in class and caused disruptions. However, in the mid-term exam, I ranked among the top 100 out of 804 participants. I sacrificed a lot during the year of training. Just when I was about to be regularized in the job, I was dismissed. Nothing could be more painful than this.”

Mohammad Billal Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Secretariat Security Division, stated, “Since the morning, the fired police personnel have been conducting a sit-in in front of the Secretariat. Security around the Secretariat has been increased. There are plans in place to manage any situation.
