Two (2) deaths occurred in a road accident in Cumilla. Last night, a car accident on the Cumilla-Sylhet route in the Debidwar upazila of Cumilla claimed the lives of two siblings and injured three others, including their father.
Two (2) deaths occurred. Inspector Md Shahinul Islam of the Debidwar Police Station attested to the occurrence.
The victims were named as Md Junayed, 12, and his sister Fahima Akhter, 9. Both are the children of Jahangir Alam, a CNG autorickshaw driver from Hossainpur hamlet in the upazila.
The identity of the remaining injured could not be determined.
The event occurred last night while Jahangir was driving his children to their maternal grandfather’s house.
A Sugandha Paribahan passenger bus collided with an autorickshaw driven by Jahangir while overtaking a truck in Chhagura, killing Junayed and injuring four others, including Jahangir.
Fahima died from her injuries on the way to the hospital, while the others were treated, according to authorities.
Locals protested the accident by vandalising five Sugandha Paribahan busses.
Police eventually took control of the situation, according to the inspector.
