Ukraine has used U.S.-provided long-range missiles to launch a strike on Russian territory. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, Ukraine has used American-supplied long-range missiles to launch its first attack on Russian territory. Ukraine used the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) to target the Bryansk region of Russia on Tuesday afternoon. The attack comes after the United States gave Ukraine permission to launch long-range missiles into Russian territory.

The Ukrainian military, meanwhile, claimed to have assaulted an ammo stockpile in the Bryansk area of Russia. It did not, however, verify if the attack made use of the ATACMS system. The attack allegedly targeted a depot approximately 100 kilometers from the border, close to the town of Karachev.

Russia threatened to use nuclear bombs if Ukraine used long-range missiles provided by the United States to target Russian territory after the United States approved Ukraine’s use of such missiles. This approval was just granted by the Biden administration, which is nearing the conclusion of its tenure, further heightening tensions. This has sparked worries about the war’s possible extension.

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, warned Tuesday that a nuclear reaction might result if Ukrainian forces attacked the Russian Federation using missiles supplied by Western nations. In this regard, the Russian nuclear weapons policy has been endorsed and renewed by President Vladimir Putin.

Peskov said at a routine press briefing that Russia’s revised nuclear policy needs careful internal and international scrutiny, according to the TASS news agency. Additionally, he added that Russia is keeping a careful eye on Ukraine’s employment of American-made long-range missiles in the Kursk area.

The war in Ukraine entered its 1,000th day on Tuesday. The Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. After initially making it to Kyiv, the capital, Russian forces were had to withdraw due to fierce opposition.
