Chhatra Dal thrashed a Pabna University of Science and Technology student for snoring while asleep. Chhatra Dal activists from Pabna University of Science and Technology (Pabiprob) have been accused of entering a residential hall and abusing a student.
Chhatra Dal thrashed a Pabna University: The event occurred on Friday (January 24) at approximately 3 p.m. in Room 526 of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall.
Saikat, Shihab, Imon, Omar Faruk, and Zakir are suspected Chhatra Dal activists who are all supporters of Tarikul Islam, the university Chhatra Dal’s joint coordinator. Murad Hasan, the victim, is a Physics Department student from the academic year 2021-22.
Murad Hasan, the victim, alleged that accused Chhatra Dal activist Omar Faruk is his roommate in Room 526. Omar Faruk frequently caused problems for him. They had a verbal disagreement three days earlier about leaving the door open. Omar Faruk notified Shihab of the event.
Omar Faruk woke Murad up about 3 a.m. last night and reprimanded him for snoring. This resulted in a heated argument between them.
After Friday prayers, Shihab led Omar Faruk to the hall’s rooftop and told him not to raise trouble with Murad. When Murad returned from the rooftop, Omar Faruk summoned Shihab, Saikat, Imon, Zakir, and a few others to his room.
They started punching and hitting Murad. They attempted to attack him with a bat, but Murad’s roommate intervened and stopped them. Following this, the Chhatra Dal activists exited the room.
Following the assault, students from neighboring rooms rushed to Murad’s rescue. They then transported him to Pabna Sadar Hospital for immediate treatment.
Abdullah Al Mamun, a Physics Department student who transported Murad to the hospital, stated, “Murad was beaten indiscriminately, resulting in a damage to his left eye. The doctor gave him basic treatment.”
Accused student Shihab stated, “I was not participating in the assault. I went into the room to settle the argument.”
Another accused student, Imon, stated, “I was not involved in the incident.” I was in the room during the assault, but Shihab, Saikat, Omar Faruk, and others were responsible for the beating.
Tarikul Islam, joint convener of the university’s Chhatra Dal, stated that the issue is personal. It has nothing to do with my organization. They may be political allies of mine, but the Chhatra Dal bears no responsibility for this incident. We will accept any actions the administration takes against them.
