In the last two months

In the last two months, a total of 14,940 crore taka has been looted only from the market of essential commodities. Since the demise of the Awami League government, the country has descended into lawlessness. Everything is out of control. There is no security or justice anywhere. There is no certainty that regular people will be able to support themselves.

In the last two months: The country and its people are being held prisoner by the unlawful Yunus government and anti-independence forces. Killings, enforced disappearances, looting, arson, corruption, and other anomalies are prevalent throughout. From stock market theft to corruption in every area, the administration and its coordinators have imposed a reign of corruption.

The general public questions where the end of this limitless corruption lies. On their verified Facebook page, Bangladesh Awami League has claimed that in the last two months alone, the illegal Yunus government and its coordinators have looted a total of 14,940 crore taka solely from the market of essential commodities.

According to the information provided by the Awami League:

The daily demand for eggs is four crores. For the previous two months, eggs have been sold for 15 taka each, when the government-set price is 12 taka. This suggests that 3 taka has been sucked off per egg during this time. According to estimations, the government and syndicate have plundered a total of 1,440 crore taka from this sector.

According to soybean oil estimations, the daily requirement is 50 lakh liters, which translates to 60 crore liters over four months. During the previous regime, the price of soybean oil had to be raised due to the taka’s devaluation versus the dollar. At the time, they claimed that soybean oil should cost 90 taka per liter. However, it is currently 170 taka. Does this imply they are siphoning off 80 taka per liter? Over four months, this administration stole 4,800 crore taka from soybean oil alone.

The monthly demand for sugar is 15 crore kilograms, totaling 60 crore kilograms over four months. The price of sugar has increased by 20 taka per kilogram. This means 1,200 crore taka has been looted.

The monthly demand for onions is 3 lakh tons, or 30 crore kg. For four months, 120 crore kg of onions were required. The price of onions has risen by 20 taka per kilogram. This indicates that in two months, the government and syndicate had pocketed 2,400 crore taka.

How is the government now managing market pricing for rice? Given a greater daily rice demand, with a per capita daily consumption of 0.5 kg or 182.50 kg per year, the total rice demand is 3 crore 10 lakh 25 thousand metric tonnes. Adding 15% for seeds, waste, and animal feed brings the total requirement to 3 crore 56 lakh 78 thousand metric tons.

This indicates the country’s monthly rice requirement is around 250 crore kg. Charging 1 taka more per kilogram than the reasonable price earns the government and syndicate 250 crore taka each month.

The daily demand for potatoes is three crore kg. An increase of 10 taka per kilogram means that 30 crore taka is siphoned off each day. That comes to 900 crore taka per month. Over four months, potatoes alone had been looted for 3,600 crore taka!

According to information released by the Bangladesh Awami League, a total of 14,940 crore taka has been looted from the six goods indicated above.
