Saif Ali Khan's attacker is Bangladeshi

Saif Ali Khan’s attacker is Bangladeshi; police have no evidence to support this claim. Mumbai police have detained Md. Shariful Islam Shehzad in connection with an attack on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan. Initially, the authorities assumed the person was a Bangladeshi citizen. However, on Sunday afternoon, Shehzad’s lawyer indicated that the police do not have any documentation to confirm his Bangladeshi citizenship.

Saif Ali Khan’s attacker is Bangladeshi: According to several Indian media sources, Shehzad was brought before the Bandra Holiday Court in Mumbai following his arrest early Sunday morning. The judge has ordered that he be held in police custody for five days.

Earlier, Dikshit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9), revealed, “Around 2 a.m. on October 16, an intruder broke into Saif Ali Khan’s home and attacked him. A FIR was filed about the event, and one person was apprehended. Md. Shariful Islam Shehzad is thirty years old. He entered the actor’s home with the intention of committing robbery.”

Regarding Shariful’s Bangladeshi citizenship, the police official stated, “Based on preliminary evidence, he appears to be a Bangladeshi national.” He does not have any proper documents to stay in India. We confiscated some goods from him, indicating that he is from Bangladesh. According to our preliminary findings, this was the individual’s first visit to Saif Ali Khan’s home.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police denied the hypothesis that Shariful Islam Shehzad is Bangladeshi, with his lawyer Dinesh Prajapati stating, “The evidence presented by the police to request his (accused Md. Shariful Islam Shehzad) custody is insufficient.” The police have failed to produce any proof that he is a Bangladeshi citizen. The judge has ordered that he be held in police custody for five days.”

Sandeep Shekhane, Shariful’s other counsel, remarked, “First, Saif Ali Khan has never made any statement implying that Bangladesh or any other country constitutes a threat to his life. He has no foreign cases. The police misrepresented the situation. He used to reside in Bangladesh, but not longer. The police claim he has been in Mumbai for the previous six months, which is incorrect. His family has lived in Mumbai for seven years. A thorough investigation is not being performed. The authorities have no indication that the accused, Shariful, is a Bangladeshi citizen.

When asked why no members of Shariful’s family appeared in court, the lawyers replied, “They were under pressure and could not come here. They will undoubtedly arrive when needed.”
