The possibility of distributing books

The possibility of distributing books to pupils in January is extremely low. The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) is working to rewrite elementary and secondary textbooks based on the curriculum released in 2012, with plans to provide the new volumes to pupils. The college intends to provide the updated books to pupils in early January 2025. However, indications indicate that progress has not been made in accordance with the plan.

The possibility of distributing books… According to a number of NCTB sources, the majority of the class books still need updating. Revisions are still being made to several books. Therefore, it is unclear when the books will be sent to the press and how long it will take for students to receive the new volumes. Regarding the timeline for sending the manuscripts to the press, the NCTB authorities have not been able to give a precise response.

The proposal calls for the government to provide free distribution of more than 400 million new books by 2025. There will be more than 500 books total, covering a range of disciplines, classes, and grade levels 1–10. Nevertheless, not much has been done to finish this massive undertaking as scheduled. The majority of the books are reportedly still not prepared for submission to the press. The possibility of distributing books….

About 401.6 million books for pre-primary, primary, ebtedayi, secondary, and indigenous pupils nationwide will be printed during the 2025 school year. There will be 120,867,752 books for pre-primary and primary education among them. The secondary level, or grades 6 through 9, will include 280,622,337 books. Additionally, over 8,500 Braille books for pupils with visual impairments will be printed. On the other hand, teachers will receive over 4.1 million “teacher guides.” Printing houses will produce these volumes in multiple batches. The possibility of distributing books…

NCTB sources claim that although the tender procedure is finished, the manuscripts for the free new textbooks for the upcoming school year, which will cover pre-primary through secondary education, have not yet been delivered to the printer. Consequently, questions have been raised over the timely delivery of the books to the pupils. Printing houses will print the books in over two hundred batches. It is anticipated that the printing of these books will cost the government around 1,200 crore taka. The possibility of distributing books….

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) recently issued an office order that forbade all officials—aside from the chairman—from speaking to the media, according to information obtained. Senior officials have therefore refrained from commenting on the matter of printing the books. About 40% of the books for grades 1, 2, and 3 have already been printed, according to several NCTB wings. The authorities are unable to send books of other grades to the press, though, because the editing process is still in progress. There are also still some novels that need to be revised. The tenders for the fourth and fifth grade books are still pending. Additionally, several books have not yet been edited, and the editing of the books for grades 6 through 10 is currently proceeding. Almost 41 presses have already signed contracts to publish the books through bids. The textbooks have not been printed by Indian presses. The Army Press has been given the contract for the books for grades 9 and 10, according to NCTB sources. However, the government-owned BG Press stated that it was reluctant to take on the duty of producing textbooks this year due to its tremendous workload.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a senior NCTB official told The Daily Campus that there is still a lot of work to be done in the area of textbook production. It is unrealistic for the authorities to provide the books to pupils at the start of January, notwithstanding their pledge. The books will probably not be distributed to pupils until the middle of February.

“The majority of the textbooks for different grades have already been sent to the press,” said Professor Dr. A. K. M. Riazul Hasan, Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). The desired books will be delivered to the students on schedule. The possibility of distributing books….

The Chairman responded, “At this time, specific information cannot be provided,” when asked what proportion of books had been delivered to the press for each grade. The appropriate wing’s members will be able to provide precise information.

“Although not all books for every grade have been sent to the press, they will be sent gradually,” Professor Riazul Hasan added. The editing process is nearly finished. The distribution of monies involves certain complications, but the authorities are working with the procurement committee to find a quick solution.” The possibility of distributing books…

The Chairman stated, “All books, with the exception of the ninth-grade books, will be sent to the press by the end of this month,” in reference to the schedule for submitting the edited books to the press. By November, books for grades one through three will be printed.
