According to a report by Indian news outlet India Today, the new U.S. administration under Donald Trump is taking various measures to cut budgets. As part of this, the United States has canceled millions of dollars in funding for several countries, including Bangladesh.
Trump was sworn in for his second term on January 20. On his first day, he signed more than a hundred executive orders, causing a political storm. Then, on January 25, a BBC report stated that the U.S. State Department had suspended all foreign aid programs and halted new aid approvals.
Leaked documents cited by the BBC reveal that all U.S. foreign aid programs have been temporarily suspended for the next 90 days. Initially, the suspended foreign aid programs are being reviewed to determine whether they align with the current U.S. administration’s foreign policy.
