Eight bodies of Bangladeshi nationals and 82 survivors were recovered from the Mediterranean Sea. The Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, has reported that the Libyan Navy rescued 82 individuals, including Bangladeshi migrants, from the Mediterranean Sea. A boat carrying 121 migrants was damaged in the Mediterranean on December 18. The Libyan Navy rescued 82 survivors from the scene and recovered at least 15 bodies.
Eight bodies of Bangladeshi: Among the rescued individuals, there are 32 Bangladeshi migrants, including 8 deceased. The rest are still missing. The survivors are currently being held in Zawiya, a city located 80 kilometers west of Tripoli. The deceased are under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at Zawiya Hospital. Concerns remain that more Bangladeshi nationals could be among the missing. The Bangladesh Embassy is working to identify the deceased.
