Impeached South Korean President

Impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol arrested. The BBC reported this on Wednesday. Yoon was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, local time, at his private apartment in the capital, Seoul.

Impeached South Korean President: Initially, personnel of the Presidential Security Service (PSS) rejected investigators’ attempts to apprehend Yoon. However, the investigators were eventually successful in apprehending him.

Earlier in January, investigators attempted to arrest Yoon for several hours but were met with resistance from his security guards.

On December 3, Yoon declared martial law in South Korea. However, due to strong objections, he was forced to revoke it within six hours. Following the declaration of martial law, Yoon was impeached by the country’s parliament on December 14 and temporarily removed from his presidential powers.

Yoon faces a criminal investigation on suspicions of treason and abuse of power. He declined to comply with investigators’ summonses for questioning. As a result, on December 31, a South Korean court issued an arrest warrant for Yoon.
