Russia has granted a defense budget of 126 billion dollars. A record defense budget has been approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This budget represents a third of the government’s overall spending, almost three years into the conflict in Ukraine.
Russia has granted: 32.5% of government spending, or around 126 billion dollars (13.5 trillion rubles), has been set aside for national defense in the 2025 budget, which was released on Sunday, December 3.
The defense expenditure this year surpasses the previous record by around 28 billion dollars (three trillion rubles). The budget has been adopted by lawmakers in both houses of the Russian Parliament.
Russia’s military spending has surged dramatically during the last two years. In October, the nation’s central bank increased interest rates to 21%, the highest level in decades, in order to control the prevailing conditions.
The biggest European conflict since World campaign II is Russia’s campaign in Ukraine. Moscow has already defeated a counteroffensive in the Kursk region and secured victories in strategic frontline areas.
