Seven college students announce plans to surround the New Market police station. In response to the injury of Dhaka College student Muhammad Rakib during a clash between Dhaka University and Dhaka College, students from the seven affiliated colleges have announced a program to surround the New Market police station. They have demanded that the Assistant Commissioner (AC) and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station, along with those responsible for the incident, be withdrawn and subjected to departmental action within 24 hours. Failing this, they will proceed with their announced program.

Seven college students announce: Additionally, they declared that if Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor Mamun Ahmed does not resign, they will indefinitely block the movement of Dhaka University buses and other vehicles passing by Dhaka College.

This announcement was made by student Moinul Islam at a press conference held on Monday at Dhaka College campus.

While expressing gratitude to the authorities for considering their demand to cancel the affiliation, he said, “We do not see any steps being taken by the authorities regarding our remaining five demands.”

He added, “Rakib, a student of Dhaka College, was brutally beaten and injured by New Market police station officers. Those responsible, including the AC and OC, must be withdrawn and subjected to departmental action within 24 hours. If our demands are not met within this timeframe, we will surround the New Market police station.”

He further said, “Dhaka University students have made derogatory remarks about female students of Eden College. The Dhaka University authorities must immediately apologize for this. The complete responsibility for the current confrontation between Dhaka University and the seven college students lies with the Pro-Vice Chancellor. The Pro-Vice Chancellor must resign within 24 hours. If these demands are not met, no vehicles, including Dhaka University buses, will be allowed to pass in front of Dhaka College indefinitely.”

The student also stated, “We expect the government and authorities to reach out to us within 24 hours to resolve the matter officially. We do not want conflict. We have been protesting for a long time, but they have ignored us. That is why we had to take this step.”
