The list of declared Bangla Academy Award nominees has been suspended. The Cultural Advisor, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, has stated that the announced list of names for the Bangla Academy Award has been suspended. He shared this information in a post on his verified Facebook account on Saturday night (January 25).
The list of declared: In his post, he wrote, “The announced list of names for the Bangla Academy Award has been suspended. It is also necessary to mention that the bizarre policies which enable such strange and cliquish awards need to be reviewed promptly. Furthermore, we need to examine how the Bangla Academy will operate and under what policies. We are now moving towards a thorough reform of the Academy. If the country can be reformed, why not the Bangla Academy?”
Earlier, on January 23, the names of 10 poets and writers were announced for the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024. The awards were announced through a notice signed by the Director General, Professor Mohammad Azam, following the approval of the Bangla Academy Executive Council.
