24,690 tons of rice imported from India will arrive tomorrow. According to an open bidding deal, 24,690 tons of rice imported from India will arrive in the country on Thursday, December 26. This is the first cargo of rice from India since the interim government entered office.
24,690 tons of rice imported: Imdad Islam, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Food, stated on Wednesday, December 25, that the shipment would arrive at Chattogram Port onboard the MV Tanis Dream at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday. This is the first consignment of parboiled rice imported from India under Contract No. 381, which was signed on November 11.
He also stated that samples of the rice kept on the ship would be obtained, and that after physical testing, the unloading operation would commence immediately. He also stated that the required arrangements had already been made for this.
