The ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ held in Washington D.C. has no connection with the U.S.A government. Asha Bay, a spokesman for the US Embassy in Dhaka, verified the information to Samakal on Saturday night. The event is scheduled for February 5-6.
The ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ held: Earlier, Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP chairperson’s press wing, announced that the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury had been invited to the event.
U.S. Embassy spokesperson Asha Bay stated, “The United States is not organizing any event called the ‘National Prayer Breakfast.'” The US government is not involved in this occurrence. There is no affiliation between the United States government and the organizing or funding of this event. However, countries, including the United States, take part in the ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ each year. The United States government always welcomes civil society participation in the global protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, including freedom of religion and belief.
She went on to state: “Statements, comments, or opinions from individuals or officials participating in the IRF Summit or the ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ do not represent the views or policies of the U.S. government.”
Previously, the ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ was hosted in Berlin, Germany, in October 2024.
In addition, the verified Facebook page of the BNP Media Cell read: “The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has invited BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury to participate in the ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ event, which will be held in Washington D.C. on February 5-6, 2025.”
It also stated, “On Saturday (January 11), Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP chairperson’s press wing, issued a message to the media with this information. The National Prayer Breakfast is led by the United States Congress.”
