Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, a businessman and former Senate candidate, has been named Conille’s successor via an executive order signed by eight of the council’s nine members.
Conille, a former UN official, took over as Prime Minister amid Haiti’s security crisis, which was mostly caused by armed groups’ actions. Conille was expected to restore political stability by conducting the country’s presidential elections. Notably, Haiti hasn’t held a presidential election since 2016.
In a letter, Conille argues that he was unjustly abducted and expresses “deep concern” about Haiti’s future. The letter was distributed via the Reuters news agency.

Conille was sworn in as Prime Minister on June 3. Prior to this, once Ariel Henry was deposed and control passed to armed factions, the TPC was founded. These groups had taken over several areas of Port-au-Prince.
On February 25, 2024, Henry left Haiti for a convention in Guyana. At the moment, armed organizations took control of the airport, barring him from reentering the nation.
The TPC’s major purpose is to restore democratic order in the Caribbean nation.
Since January, over 3,600 people have been dead in Haiti, with over 5,000 displaced. According to the United Nations, 2 million people require immediate food assistance, and nearly half of the population lacks adequate nutrition.
