In Indonesia, flash floods

In Indonesia, flash floods and landslides ruined the lives of at least 27 people. Over the weekend, unexpected floods and landslides in Indonesia’s North Sumatra region claimed the lives of at least 27 people. According to the nation’s disaster service, at least four areas have seen unexpected floods and landslides as a result of the intense rainfall that began last week.

In Indonesia, flash floods….. According to North Sumatra police spokesperson Hadi Wahyudi, a landslide in Deli Serdang hamlet on Wednesday resulted in seven fatalities and twenty injuries, as reported by Reuters.

Searchers are looking for persons who have gone missing, he said, including some who are stuck in a minibus and other cars that were destroyed by a landslide on a mountain interprovincial road.

Search efforts that started over the weekend have resulted in the recovery of 20 bodies in other areas. Two people are still missing and being sought.

Homes, mosques, and rice fields have sustained significant damage due to landslides and unexpected floods. Voting at certain polling places for the regional elections was delayed as a result of floods in Medan, the provincial capital, brought on by heavy rainfall.

Extreme weather is predicted at the end of 2024, according to a new warning from Indonesia’s weather service.
