The police do not have a magic solution for reducing crime across the country. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Baharul Alam, declared that the police are aiming to reduce crimes including robbery and murder.
The police do not have: He delivered these statements on Saturday (December 28) during the Bangladesh Retired Police Officers Welfare Association’s 41st annual general meeting in the capital’s Rajarbagh.
Regarding the fire at the Secretariat, Baharul Alam stated that an investigation is underway, and the inquiry committee would offer complete details. He further stated that each threat to coordinators is being dealt with utmost seriousness, despite the fact that no substantial findings have yet emerged.
He stated, “We are implementing measures to reduce crime. Instructions have been issued to Superintendents of Police across the country, including Dhaka.”
He went on to say, “We are making efforts and seeking the cooperation of students.”
At the same time, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali stated, “The populace did not anticipate such a police force following independence. The police’s role during the student uprising in July and August was questionable.”
He remarked, “It is critical to understand why there is so much popular animosity of the police. The DMP Commissioner also stated that if the police had made the correct decisions even 72 hours before to August 5, many lives could have been saved.”
