Jail guard fractures Chhatra League leader’s hand in jail for inability to pay money, Inquiry ordered. A Chhatra League leader was beaten and his hand shattered, allegedly by Jhalakathi jail guards. Zubair Hossain (35) appeared before the Jhalokati Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon (January 22), wearing a bandage on his hand.
Jail guard fractures: Judge Md Moniruzzaman directed the police to examine the case within 15 working days and submit a report to the court after taking legal action under the jail code. Boni Amin Baklai, Zubair’s lawyer, confirmed the matter.
Zubair Hossain is the former president of the Jhalokati City Chhatra League. Mofazzel Hossain, the son of the village’s Abdul Jabbar, died. He’s been in jail for about two months on charges of burning down the district BNP office.
Speaking at the courthouse, Zubair Hossain stated: “The jail guards were demanding money from me under various pretexts.” On January 17, Subedar Sohag Hossain, Chief Jailor Alauddin Mia, Jailors Idris Mia, Gias Uddin, Shamim Hossain, Nurul Haque, and Musa Mia beat me three times for failing to pay the money.
Zubair’s brother, Humayun Kabir, stated, “Even after multiple beatings, my brother received no treatment. Later, while Zubair was writhing in pain, jail officials transported him to Sadar Hospital for treatment. Even though my brother was severely ill, he was not confined in the jail hospital.
Zubair’s lawyer, Boni Amin Baklai, stated that when the incident was brought to the court’s attention, the judge directed the jail superintendent to investigate and report back to the court.
According to Jail Superintendent Abdullah Ibn Tofazzal Hossain Khan, no jailer beat Zubair. Zubair got into a brawl with the convicts in the ward when they disagreed about meals. He was harmed. One of our guards was injured in the altercation. Zubair was admitted to the Jhalokati Sadar Hospital on Wednesday night.
