Allegation of rape against Chhatra Dal convener. In Bakerganj, Barishal, Md. Ruhul Amin (34), the municipal Chhatra Dal convener, has been charged with rape. Officer-in-Charge Md. Shafiqul Islam said that the charge was submitted by a 31-year-old lady from the Bakerganj municipality.
Allegation of rape: Md. Ruhul Amin Howlader, Motahar Howlader’s son, lives on Sahebganj Madrasa Road in Bakerganj Municipality’s Ward No. 5 in the Barishal district. The plaintiff is a neighboring woman.
In the case statement, the plaintiff stated that the accused Chhatra Dal leader Ruhul, who was a neighbor, became acquainted with her and eventually obtained her personal mobile number. They began speaking over the phone, and Ruhul proposed to her, resulting in a love connection.
During this time, in 2023, while the plaintiff was enrolled in a nursing program at Barishal Unicare Health and Technical Training Institute, she and Ruhul Amin would regularly live together as husband and wife in a rented home under the authority of Barishal Kotwali Police Station. Ruhul also attempted to have physical intercourse with her while visiting several locations in Barishal and Kuakata.
Because they were in a romantic connection, the plaintiff pressed Ruhul’s family for marriage, but they began creating excuses and delaying the process. From June 11, 2023, to January 15, 2024, Ruhul enticed the plaintiff with false promises of marriage and sexually exploited her in order to keep their relationship going.
Ruhul spent the night of January 14 at the plaintiff’s mother’s leased residence in Bakerganj, municipal town. When the petitioner raised the issue of marriage and a formal contract (kabinnama), Ruhul flatly rejected the relationship. He allegedly warned the plaintiff with repercussions if she pursued the case further and severed all communication with her.
According to Md. Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of the Bakerganj Police Station, a rape case has been filed against Ruhul Amin on charges of raping a woman named Shrabanti (pseudonym) after luring her with false promises of marriage. He further stated that measures are underway to apprehend him.
