Bangladesh dues the state government of Tripura 190 crore takas for unpaid electricity bills. The state government of Tripura has made an urgent request for 135 crore rupees (190 crore 92 lakh 56 thousand Bangladeshi taka) in unpaid energy bills from Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has previously received a letter from Tripura’s electrical provider, the Tripura State electrical Corporation (TSECL), asking for the unpaid balance. Bangladesh dues the state government: The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) receives its energy supply from Tripura State energy Corporation Limited (TSECL). However, TSECL ceased providing power to Bangladesh as the overdue balance surpassed 100 crore rupees.
Ratan Nath, the Minister of Power for Tripura, said that even though Bangladesh pays the bills on a regular basis, a sizable sum of money is still unpaid. However, Tripura ceased providing electricity to Bangladesh in May of this year after the overdue balance surpassed the 100-crore rupee level.
TSECL’s managing director, Debashish Sarkar, told the Indian news agency Times of India, “Bangladesh has unpaid electrical bills of 135 crore rupees. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has received a letter from us asking for the unpaid balance. I had previously personally requested that the BPDB chairman pay the outstanding balance. The Union Minister of Power has also spoken with our state government’s Minister of Power, and he has committed to helping us with this.” Bangladesh dues the state government..

Speaking to reporters in the state capital of Agartala on Saturday, November 30, Tripura’s chief minister, Manik Saha, had earlier stated that his state is thinking of halting trade connections with Bangladesh.
