Bangladesh is importing 130,000 metric tons of diesel from India. Despite the July revolt and ongoing border tensions, India and Bangladesh have maintained commercial stability. Bangladesh continues to purchase diesel from India. According to a newly accepted resolution, Bangladesh would import 130,000 metric tons of diesel from India. This will cost 11.37 billion takas.

Bangladesh is importing:  The Times of India, an Indian news agency, reported this information on Tuesday.

According to the Times of India, on Sunday, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Board of Directors authorized the decision to import 130,000 metric tons of diesel from India’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). This fuel will be imported from January to December of the current year.

This year, BPC’s requirement for refined fuel oil is 7.4 million metric tons, with 4.6 million tons of diesel, 80% of which is imported directly. The remaining half comes from local refineries. BPC regularly imports refined fuel oil from India’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited. Since January 2016, this petroleum has being carried to Bangladesh via train.

Previously, the interim government of Bangladesh agreed to import 50,000 tons of non-basmati parboiled rice from India to meet domestic demand.
