After attending court, Awami League leaders and activists held a rally with “Joy Bangla” slogans. Following a court appearance in a case concerning the destruction of a BNP office in Jashore, Awami League leaders and people marched in protest. On Monday afternoon, the flash rally began near the Senior Chief Judicial Court and finished at Doratana in the city. Sheikh Atikur Babu, the district Awami League’s secretary for industry and commerce issues, led the demonstration, which had about 15-20 participants. During the event, attendees sang slogans in support of the Awami League and Sheikh Hasina.
After attending court: This was the first such gathering in Jashore since the government’s demise. However, Abdur Razzak, the officer in charge of Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station, maintained that he was ignorant of the rally.
On Monday, 25 Awami League leaders and activists appeared in court before Chief Judicial Magistrate Golam Kibria in connection with the arson of the district BNP offices.
The District Awami League’s Secretary for Industry and Commerce Affairs, Sheikh Atikur Babu, remarked, “The case accusing Awami League leaders and activists of burning the BNP office is false and baseless.” On Monday, 25 of us went to the hearing for this case. We organized a protest march to demand that the fraudulent allegations against our leaders and activists be dropped.
It is worth noting that on August 4 last year, miscreants stormed the BNP office in Jessore. During the event, some objects in the office were robbed, vandalized, and set on fire. Following this, on September 7, Advocate MA Gofur, former Law Affairs Secretary of the District BNP and chairman of the Nationalist Lawyers’ Unity Forum, filed a case with Kotwali Police Station, citing 63 Awami League leaders and activists, as well as unidentified accused individuals.
