Bangladesh lost the series against Afghanistan 2-1. Bangladesh began the series with a significant loss. However, the Tigers tied the series by winning the second game, making the third and final match an unofficial final. Afghanistan’s opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz got a century in this critical match, resulting in a 5-wicket defeat for Bangladesh. As a result, the visitors lost the series, and Afghanistan won 2-1.

Bangladesh lost the series. Tigers captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and elected to bat at Sharjah Stadium in the UAE on Monday (November 11). Bangladesh got off to a terrific start, with openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Soumya Sarkar contributing 53 runs to their opening partnership.

The two Afghan openers combined for 41 runs in the opening innings. Then Nahid bowled Sediqullah for 14 off 18 balls. Gurbaz kept the scoreboard ticking following his dismissal, and Rahmat joined him on the crease.

However, Afghanistan found themselves under duress after losing two more quick wickets, leaving the team’s score at 84. Rahmat returned to the pavilion, scoring 8 from 22 balls, while Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 6 from 21.

 

Following that, Gurbaz, assisted by Azmatullah Omarzai, was able to stabilize the innings. Both batsmen faced the Tigers’ bowlers, and Gurbaz scored a superb century off 117 balls.

This Afghan opener formed a 100-run partnership with Omarzai. Gurbaz eventually left after scoring 101 runs off 120 balls, with the team’s score at 184. Following his dismissal, Nahid gave Bangladesh hope by removing the approaching Gulbadin Naib, who scored one run off five balls. Bangladesh lost the series.

 

However, Omarzai kept one end firm while Mohammad Nabi held the other. Omarzai reached fifty as he and Nabi kept the chase on track. Finally, they secured Afghanistan’s victory with 10 balls to spare. Azmatullah stayed unbeaten on 70 off 77 balls, while Nabi was not out on 34 off 27.
