BNP activist killed in Gazipur over a dispute regarding the distribution of extortion money. The event occurred Saturday night (December 21) in the Ulusara Chokidarertek region of the upazila. The dead was identified as Abul Kalam (26), the son of the late Abul Kashem Mia of Ulusara village in Kaliakair. Abul Kalam attended Chandra Government College and rented a residence in Kalampur’s Belayet neighborhood (Khajardek). Police said he was involved in extortion.
BNP activist killed in Gazipur: According to eyewitnesses and local sources, two groups led by “Pichchi Akash” and Shahriar Nafis had been threatening Harunur Rashid’s “Allah’r Dan Bakery” in Ulusara, Kaliakair, with extortion money for quite some time. Around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, Abul Kalam, Shahriar Nafis, and a few others went to Harun’s bakery to collect extortion money without informing Pichchi Akash.
When Pichchi Akash and his crew learned of the news, they attacked Shahriar and Abul Kalam. They were severely battered during the assault. Later, bakery owner Harun and his colleagues rescued Abul Kalam in severe condition and transported him to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital. Kalam died from his injuries while being treated there. Following the event, Pichchi Akash, the accused, has gone on the run.

In this incident, Abul Kalam was slain. He was engaged in extortion activities. Police responded to the location, took charge of the deceased, transported it to the morgue, and inspected the area. Further legal proceedings addressing the incident are currently pending.
