'Entry passes' for media and all private

‘Entry passes’ for media and all private citizens to the Secretariat have been revoked for security reasons. With the exception of entry passes granted to officials and staff at the Bangladesh Secretariat, the government has eliminated all temporary “entry passes” for private citizens, including journalists with accreditation cards, in the interest of general security.

‘Entry passes’ for media and all private: On Thursday evening (December 26), Md. Khoda Bakhsh Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Home Ministry Affairs, issued an order announcing the termination of all private admission credentials. Late on Friday night (December 27), the Ministry of Home Affairs published the necessary order to the media.

According to the order, all temporary entry passes (for private individuals) have been revoked in an effort to improve overall security at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The only exceptions are the temporary entry passes (for government employees and officials) and the permanent entry passes (digital access control system) given to Secretariat officials and employees.

Until further notice, journalists’ accreditation cards for access to the Secretariat have been suspended.

A special cell set up at the Crime Command and Control Center of Bangladesh Police, DMP, located at 15 Abdul Gani Road, Dhaka, would allow holders of the canceled categories of Secretariat access credentials to request for new temporary entry passes within the next 15 days.

Because of the disturbance to the Secretariat’s security caused by the fire event at the Secretariat, this order has been issued.
