Five officials have been sacked from their postings at five (5) different countries’ embassies. Five officials from five countries’ embassies and high commissions have been recalled from their duties. They’ve also been told to return to the nation. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting recently issued a notification on this matter.
Five officials have been sacked: The officials are: Tayyab Ali, Counsellor (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan; Sufi Abdullahil Maruf, First Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Arifur Rahman, First Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Consulate General office in Dubai, UAE; Asaduzzaman Khan, Second Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Imranul Hasan, Second Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Embassy.
The notification states that officials working in the Press Wings of Bangladesh missions abroad under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have been recalled from their current positions and posts, and they have been asked to return to the country within the next 15 working days for reallocation.
Earlier, on November 24, the government named two journalists as Press Ministers at the Bangladesh High Commissions in New Delhi, India, and London, United Kingdom.
Akbar Hossain Majumdar, a senior journalist in the BBC Dhaka Bureau, has been assigned to the Bangladesh High Commission in the UK. Meanwhile, Faisal Mahmood has been appointed to Bangladesh’s High Commission in New Delhi, India.
The Ministry of Public Administration has issued separate notices of their appointments to these positions on a two-year contract.
