Grocer hacked to death in Gazipur. A grocer named Hazrat Ali was reportedly hacked to death in Vararul’s Bot Tola district, which is part of the Gazipur City Corporation.
Grocer hacked to death. The incident happened on Sunday (November 10) about 5 p.m., according to Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Arifur Rahman of the Sadar Police Station.
Hazrat Ali, the deceased, was Azim Uddin’s son from the Bot Tola district of Vararul in the Gazipur City Corporation.
According to local authorities, on Sunday afternoon, Hazrat Ali was seated in his shop when miscreants attacked him with household weapons. They struck him with a knife once, and he died inside the shop.
Hazrat Ali’s relatives claim he ran a grocery store next to his residence. Two months ago, when he attempted to build a structure on his property, a local gang led by Masud demanded extortion money. When Hazrat Ali refused to pay the extortion, the accused assaulted a worker. A complaint was made against them at the police station. Since then, the accused have been threatening Hazrat Ali.
Mohammad Arifur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar Police Station, stated, “This murder was committed owing to preexisting animosity. Police were summoned to the location, and the body was found and transported to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital’s morgue for autopsy. Legal action is being taken in this matter.”
