Around nine o’clock the night before, the incident started. Mohiuddin, a local shopkeeper, was traveling down a dark lane on his way home from Noapara Sadar. He didn’t see the attackers because the route was dark. Before beating and slicing him, they blocked his way and inquired as to whom he had texted. After a while, he escaped and fled home, wounded. The masked attackers started firing at random when locals gathered at the location after learning about the incident.
Jasim Uddin, who was injured, stated, “I came back from overseas three months ago. I come from the same house as Mohiuddin and the rest. We got there after learning that he had been beaten. Mohiuddin didn’t do anything like that, yet he was beaten for using his phone to communicate a political message. We don’t participate in politics.
The residence where the injuries occurred is referred to as the former residence of Khayez Ahmed, the previous chairman of the Noapara Union Parishad, according to local and law enforcement sources. His son, Kamal Uddin, was the target of the masked attackers’ visit. He is regarded as a supporter of BNP central vice chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury.
However, according to local sources, the attackers are supporters of BNP North Chittagong District convenor Golam Akbar Khandakar. According to the authorities, Muhammad Mamun, a supporter of Golam Akbar Khandakar, was the attack’s leader. According to local sources, Mamun is one of the defendants in the murder case of Nurul Alam, the Chhatra Dal’s central assistant secretary. In Chittagong 12–15 persons were shot.
The BNP North Chittagong District convenor, Golam Akbar Khandakar, stated in this regard: “I have heard about the incident. Undoubtedly, such an occurrence is undesirable. “There has been a long-standing conflict between two factions of the BNP in Raozan,” stated Mir Mahabubur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Raozan Police Station. Last night, 20 to 25 terrorists attacked Kamal Uddin, the son of previous chairman Khayez Ahmed, under the leadership of Muhammad Mamun, who has been charged in several cases, including a murder case. The terrorists started firing at random as the locals stepped in. Twelve to fifteen innocent persons were consequently shot. In Chittagong 12–15 persons were shot.
“The terrorists had previously attacked Kamal Uddin’s house by shooting at it multiple times,” the OC added. A motorcycle and a number of makeshift weapons that the attackers had left behind were found by the police following the event. No case has been filed yet because the injured people are receiving treatment in the hospital. But by tonight, a case is anticipated to be filed.
