In Sirajganj, BNP terrorists severed the tendon of an Awami League leader’s leg. According to reports, BNP activists attacked a union-level Awami League leader in Sirajganj and severed the tendons in both legs. Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, revealed that the event took place on Thursday morning in the Soydabad Rehabilitation area of Sadar Upazila.
In Sirajganj, BNP terrorists: Haji Selim Reza, a former Union Parishad member and vice president of the Soydabad Union Awami League, was hurt. He is the son of Haru Sheikh of Purba Mohanpur village in the same union.
He was also seriously hurt, with both legs and his right arm broken, as well as brain injuries from hacking. He was transported to Dhaka for treatment since he was in severe condition.
A local Awami League leader said that BNP activists attacked him “with the intention of murder” after he refused to pay an extortion demand of 2 million taka. However, the BNP has refuted the charges.
Selim’s son, Abdul Jalil, stated, “Around 7 a.m., 30-35 BNP activists snatched up my father in a rickshaw van from in front of our house. They then pummeled him, shattering his legs and right arm.”
“Later, they severed the tendons of both legs, hacked his head, and left him unconscious in front of Purbo Baitara School,” he told me.
He went on to say, “After we rescued my father, we took him to Sirajganj General Hospital, where the doctors advised us to transfer him to Dhaka.” My father was hospitalized to a hospital in Dhaka. Doctors have declared his condition serious as a result of substantial blood loss.”
Soydabad Union Awami League President Saidul Islam Raja stated, “After Selim returned home, BNP activists wanted 2 million taka in extortion from him. When he refused to pay, they kidnapped and violently assaulted him with the intent to kill.”
OC Humayun Kabir stated that the police arrived at the location after learning of the assault on Selim Reza. However, no documented complaint has been lodged about the occurrence.
