She described buying a kilogram of onions for 70 rupees and saying, “The high prices are disrupting our dietary habits.” I encourage the government to lower vegetable prices, particularly for those we need every day.”
However, it is not just Delhi; onion prices are also growing in Mumbai, another big city where customers are facing the effects of high costs.
Dr. Khan, a buyer in Mumbai, told ANI that the costs of onions and garlic have soared, forcing every family to spend more money. He claimed that he bought five kg of onions for a total of 360 rupees.
Another shopper in Mumbai, Akash, said onion prices had risen to 70-80 rupees per kilogram, up from roughly 40-60 rupees just a few days earlier. He compared the fluctuations to the stock market index, noting that these prices rise and fall. He believes onion prices will fall soon.
Sellers have observed that, despite rising onion costs, purchasers continue to purchase them because onions are a staple item for the general populace.
