Terrorists killed a Swechchhasebak League leader in Cox’s Bazar. An unknown gunman shot and murdered a Khulna councilor near the edge of a casuarina grove by Cox’s Bazar sea beach. According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ilias Khan of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station, the incident occurred at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday (January 9) in the casuarina forest between Sugandha and Seagull points on the seashore.

Terrorists killed a Swechchhasebak League: The victim’s identity was established using the national ID card discovered in his pocket. Golam Rabbani was the son of Md. Golam Akbar of Deyana Uttarpara, Daulatpur, Khulna City Corporation.
The deceased, Golam Rabbani, was the Vice-President of the Khulna City Swechhasebak League. He previously served on the Khulna City Corporation’s council. He had been absent from the area since the government’s fall on August 5.
Ilias Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station, alleged that a motorbike entered unexpectedly and shot the man. The bullet entered one side of his head and exited the opposite side. Locals rescued him and transported him to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Salam, an auto-rickshaw driver who assisted in the victim’s rescue and transportation to the hospital, told reporters that a loud sound suddenly came from near the wooden bridge in front of Seagull Point. When everyone realized it was the sound of gunshots, they began running in all directions. The identity of the shooter(s) could not be determined. At that point, he spotted someone falling down. He fearlessly arrived, instantly rescued the gunshot victim, and drove him to the hospital in his auto-rickshaw, where the doctor pronounced him deceased.
Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, spokesperson for the Cox’s Bazar District Police, indicated that investigations are underway to determine who shot the victim. Authorities are also trying to figure out when he landed in Cox’s Bazar. The deceased’s body is currently at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.
