The body of child Muntaha (5) was buried in a pond. Police disclosed startling information following the recovery of the body of Muntaha Akter, a 5-year-old girl who went missing from Kanaighat in Sylhet. According to a police officer, the child’s body was initially interred in a pond’s mud.

Early on Sunday morning, when a young lady suspect was taken into custody, her mother attempted to change the course of events by taking the body out of the pond and trying to dispose of it in another pond close to the child’s home. On the way, though, she was apprehended by locals.
The 55-year-old woman in custody is named Alifjan. She lives in Kanaighat Sadar Upazila’s Birdol Vadarifoud village. Shamim Ahmed, a resident of the same area, is the father of the child, MuntaHa. Police recovered the child’s body this morning at around 4 a.m. The toddler went missing on November 3.
Alifjan’s home was destroyed and burned by irate townspeople when the child’s body was found. Later, police showed up and put them in handcuffs.

At the time of retrieval, the child’s body was covered in muck, according to the police, and they discovered something that looked like a rope wrapped around her neck. This has raised the possibility that she was strangled by anything resembling rope.
Muntaha was reported missing since the afternoon of November 3 by the police and villagers. A reward for her recovery was eventually announced after numerous search attempts failed to locate her. Marzia Akter, a 25-year-old neighbor who also provided Muntaha with individual tutoring, was arrested by police on Saturday night and sent to the station. Alifjan, Marzia’s mother, and her elderly grandmother reside with her.
Alifjan and Marzia, who have been arrested in relation to the incident, are being questioned, according to police officer Alok Kanti Sharma. They first stated that they had a disagreement with Muntaha’s father, but it is still unclear what the disagreement was about. For an autopsy, Muntaha’s body has been taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
