The Saudi administration is upset

The Saudi administration is upset with Bangladesh about Hajj management. According to Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain, the Saudi government is dissatisfied with Bangladesh’s management of the Hajj. He made the announcement during a Hajj press conference on Thursday afternoon at the Secretariat.

The Saudi administration is upset : The Religious Affairs Adviser stated that, despite the fact that Hajj organizations had until February 14 to select service providers, reserve tent locations, rent houses in Mecca and Medina, and finalize contracts with food firms, they had yet to commence the arrangements. Meanwhile, the Saudi authorities expressed unhappiness with us after receiving repeated queries from Hajj agencies regarding their quotas.

Addressing the Hajj agencies, the Religious Affairs Adviser stated, “Do not take any acts that may cause crises or uncertainty for Hajj pilgrims. I further urge Hajj agency owners and managers to complete all relevant steps, including the formation of lead agencies in compliance with Saudi government directives, within a few days.

The adviser stated that the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah advised the agencies of the minimum number of Hajj pilgrims per agency in a letter dated December 9. He clarified, “I want to make one thing clear to Hajj pilgrims and the people of the country: the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah sets the minimum number of Hajj passengers each agency. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has no involvement in this situation.”

He stated, “Given the realities of Hajj management in the country and the concerns of Hajj agencies, I and my ministry have made every effort to reduce the minimum quota of Hajj pilgrims per agency.” Hajj is a bilateral activity, and we must remember this. We must also remember that the two countries already have close connections and shared interests. Above all, we must ensure that the pilgrims, who are Allah’s guests, do not encounter any difficulties or uncertainties.”

“I also urge the owners or managers of Hajj agencies to complete all necessary processes, including the formation of lead agencies in accordance with the directives of the Saudi government, within a couple of days.”
