Sri Lanka created an awful record

Sri Lanka created an awful record after getting bowled out for 42 runs. In the Durban Test, Sri Lanka set an embarrassing record when they were bowled out for just 42 runs. But by establishing a world record, the team’s spinner Prabath Jayasuriya helped to numb that painful memory.

Sri Lanka created an awful record: Jayasuriya set a record that day when he dismissed South African opener Tony de Zorzi, earning him his 100th Test wicket. He is the first left-arm bowler to have collected 100 wickets in less games.

Prabath Jayasuriya has claimed 97 wickets in 16 games prior to the start of the Durban Test match against the Proteas. On Thursday, he achieved his 100th wicket in the second innings after taking two in the first.

Colin Blythe of England previously held the record for the fastest 100 wickets among left-arm bowlers in Test cricket. It took him 19 games to accomplish the milestone. That record was broken, though, by Jayasuriya, who claimed 100 wickets in just 17 games.

Overall, George Lohmann is the only player in Test cricket to collect 100 wickets in fewer games than Jayasuriya. This English speed bowler reached 100 wickets in just 16 Test matches, setting the record against South Africa at Johannesburg in 1896.

Like Jayasuriya, Charles Turner, Sidney Barnes, Clarrie Grimmett, and Yasir Shah are bowlers who reached the 100-wicket club after playing 17 Test matches.

His squad is hoping for a loss in the game where Jayasuriya achieved this record. The Proteas have amassed 233 runs for the loss of three wickets in the second innings. They now have a 382-run lead overall.
