Hridoy’s opinions about T20 captaincy. After Najmul Hossain indicated his willingness to stand down as captain of Bangladesh’s teams in all three forms, Towhid Hridoy has been considered as a prospective T20 skipper.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the roster for the one-day international series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, with Najmul as captain. A few Bangladeshi cricketers are heading to the UAE today to play the three-match One-Day International series, while the remainder will depart tomorrow.
Hridoy spoke with journalists in front of the academy building at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium before leaving for the airport. When asked about the T20 captaincy, he stated, “The BCB will make the decision.” It’s not in my hands. I feel that this is not solely dependent on myself or one or two persons. The BCB, or those in authority, will know best. I believe that the captaincy should be given to the best candidate for the team’s benefit. And I wish them the best.”
When questioned if he is prepared for the burden of leadership, he replied, “I don’t want to talk about it right now. I want to focus on the game ahead of us.”
