Samson thrashed the South African bowlers mercilessly. He hit a century in his last Twenty20 International against Bangladesh. Today in Durban, he struck another century against South Africa. Sanju Samson’s 47-ball century helped India win the first T20I against the Proteas by 61 runs.

Samson thrashed the South African. After losing the toss, India batted first and scored 202 runs, led by Samson’s destructive 107 off 50 balls, which featured 10 sixes and seven fours. South Africa responded by being bowled out for 141 runs.

Last month in Hyderabad, Samson scored 111 runs off 47 balls against Bangladesh, including 8 sixes and 11 fours. With another century, this wicketkeeper-batsman became the first Indian to score successive hundreds in T20 cricket.

“In men’s T20 cricket, only three players have previously achieved successive centuries: Gustav McKeon of France, Rilee Rossouw of South Africa, and Phil Salt of England. This number is down to only two among Test-playing nations.”

Gerald Coetzee grabbed three wickets for 37 runs in four overs for the Proteas.

“In response, the Proteas battled with Indian bowling. Heinrich Klaasen scored the most, with 25 runs. Coetzee finished with 23 runs off 11 balls, while opener Ryan Rickelton had 21 runs off 11 balls.

For India, Bishnoi and Varun each took three wickets, with Avesh Khan taking two.

The two sides will square off again on Saturday in the second match of the series, which begins at 8 p.m. Bangladesh time.”
