Terrorists set fire to Maya Chowdhury’s home in Chandpur. Terrorists burned down the home of former minister and Awami League Presidium member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya in Chandpur’s Matlab North Upazila.

 

Terrorists set fire…The incident happened at two structures on his land in Mohanpur, Matlab North Upazila, on Saturday, November 16, at approximately 8 PM. The fire department arrived on the spot quickly after learning of the situation and put out the flames. To evaluate the situation, the army, police, and upazila administration came to the location later that evening.

Nurul Karim, the Inspector and In-Charge of Matlab North Fire Service and Civil Defense, stated on Sunday, November 17, “We learned about the fire last night. At Maya Chowdhury’s house, two three-story structures had their ground floors burned. We arrived on the site quickly and put out the fire.

The Matlab North Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (Investigation), Pradip, stated, “I immediately notified the higher authorities after receiving the news at night.” Under the direction of the Joint Forces In-Charge, we arrived at the spot as directed by our SP Sir. We are attempting to collect information after putting out the fire. There will be legal action taken in this regard.

“We received reports of vandalism and arson at the residence of former MP Maya Chowdhury,” stated Khairul Kabir Chowdhury, Chandpur’s Additional Superintendent of Police (Matlab Circle). After that, we hurried to the scene with the fire department, police, and army.

“The ground floors of two buildings were vandalized and set on fire,” he added. However, the damage to the ground floors was limited since the fire department was able to immediately contain the fire. In order to identify the individuals engaged in this incident, we are actively gathering information. Terrorists set fire.

“We think this is a horrible act,” stated Alamgir Hossain Sarkar, the former general secretary of the Matlab North Upazila BNP. We have absolutely no support for it. We never support or condone violence, nor do we participate in its politics. But I think that if any BNP members had planned to carry out violent, vandal, or arsonistic activities, they would have done so soon after August 5.
