There is a shortage of bottled oil

There is a shortage of bottled oil in the market, and prices have increased. Soybean oil has suddenly become scarce throughout the nation, including in parts of the capital. Soybean oil is not available in most markets. It costs 20 to 25 taka more per liter, even in the few stores that sell it. Bottles of soybean oil are being concealed to trick consumers. Although oil is accessible in supermarkets, buyers are not permitted to buy more than one bottle at a time.

There is a shortage of bottled oil: Similar images were seen in several parts of the capital’s Mirpur, Mohammadpur, and Farmgate marketplaces on Friday, December 6. During a field visit, it was discovered that some stores in Mirpur had no oil bottles at all, while others were only openly showing one or two bottles. The cost of the bottled oil ranged from 190 to 200 taka per liter. Depending on the store, half-liter bottles cost anywhere from 90 to 95 taka. The price per liter of loose oil was 190 taka.

Shop owners stated that for the previous week, no oil has been delivered by supplier businesses. There is no oil, not even in wholesale marketplaces. Sometimes, only a few stores carry two to four liters, but they cost more. Consequently, they are also raising their rates.

“They offered no justification for raising their prices. “When will more oil be available in the market?” was the counter-question posed by a few shop sellers. Some stores have been covertly gathering excess oil and reselling it at higher prices as a result of the market’s scarcity of oil supply. The seller answered, “If you want, I can give it to you,” when a customer tried to purchase oil from a store in the 14-number region of Mirpur. Simply let me know how many bottles you require.

Senior officials from a number of pertinent organizations were contacted, but they declined to comment on the market’s lack of oil supply or the companies’ supply problems. There is a shortage of bottled oil….
