Mother swallowed poison after feeding it to her two sons, who died. In Kaliganj, Satkhira, a mother attempted suicide after poisoning her two sons to death. The incident took place this afternoon (Wednesday) in Kalikapur village of Krishnanagar Union in Kaliganj Upazila.
Mother swallowed poison: The deceased children were identified as Mahir (5) and Arian (9 months), sons of Hasan Sheikh from Kalikapur village. Their mother, Ratna Khatun (30), is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital in critical condition.
Locals reported that Hasan and his wife Ratna frequently had arguments. This afternoon, Ratna suddenly poisoned her two sons inside their home and then consumed poison herself. When the incident came to light, they were quickly rescued and taken to Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex.
At the emergency department of Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctor declared Mahir and Arian dead. Medical Officer Dr. Sakir Hossain stated that their mother’s condition is critical.
Shyamnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Humayun Kabir Molya confirmed the incident and said that necessary action will be taken upon receiving a formal complaint.
