At the end of the first day

At the end of the first day against Bangladesh, West Indies scored 250 runs for the cost of five wickets. Kraigg Brathwaite and Keacy Carty were dismissed by bowler Taskin Ahmed, costing the West Indies two fast wickets for a just 25 runs. Nonetheless, the West Indies finished the day in a commanding lead because of the batting exploits of Alick Athanaze and Mckenny Clarke. Both batters came very close to reaching the century mark but fell just short. The Caribbean squad ended the day at 250 runs for five wickets, riding high on their contributions.

At the end of the first day….West Indies openers Mikhail Lewis and Kraigg Brathwaite demonstrated encouraging purpose when they began the day at bat. After they formed a partnership of 25 runs, Taskin Ahmed quickly hit two more runs.

Keacy Carty left without making an impact, and Brathwaite was removed after four runs off of 38 balls. Kavem Hodge then joined Lewis at the crease, and the two of them steadied the innings for the hosts following the early losses. Lewis proceeded to score fifty runs. At the end of the first day…

Despite a 59-run partnership between Lewis and Hodge, Hodge left with the team score at 94. After scoring 25 runs off 63 balls, he was run out. Hodge was dismissed, but Lewis and Alick Athanaze kept batting together.

The pair frustrated the Bangladeshi bowlers by keeping the scoreboard moving. Lewis was getting close to his century while batting with ease. But with the team total at 224, he was removed for 97 runs off 218 balls.

Not long after Lewis was dismissed, Athanaze returned to the pavilion as well. After hitting 90 runs off 130 balls, the batter from the Caribbean was out. After his departure, Joshua Da Silva and Justin Greaves performed the rest of the day’s play. Da Silva was not out at 14 runs off 21 balls, while Greaves was still undefeated with 11 runs off 26 balls.
